About Course

This Advanced Ophthalmic Ultrasonography course builds upon foundational knowledge to offer a deeper, more technical understanding of ocular ultrasound imaging. It focuses on optimizing gain settings, distinguishing between A-scan and B-scan modalities, mastering probe handling, and interpreting scan orientations. Learners will develop critical diagnostic skills to differentiate between subtle tissue characteristics and improve imaging accuracy. Through detailed protocols, real-world scenarios, and image interpretation techniques, this course prepares healthcare professionals to handle complex ophthalmic cases confidently and effectively.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand and apply gain settings effectively to optimize image clarity and reduce diagnostic errors.
  • Differentiate between A-scan and B-scan ultrasonography, including how to interpret spikes, amplitudes, and reflectivity patterns.
  • Recognize how sound waves interact with different ocular tissues and how this affects image presentation.
  • Perform axial, transverse, and longitudinal scans with correct marker orientation and probe anchoring techniques.
  • Interpret B-scan echograms accurately, identifying hyper-reflective and anechoic structures for clinical diagnosis.
  • Evaluate ocular conditions like vitreous hemorrhage, intraocular tumors, retinal detachment, IOFBs, and optic nerve abnormalities using the appropriate scanning method.
  • Implement comprehensive ocular ultrasound protocols, including quadrant scanning and positional adjustments for thorough globe evaluation.
